As a child growing up rather isolated on an Iowa farm, June Van Klaveren spent many days outside playing with creatures she found.
In her professional career, she helped pest control companies market their services.
Combining her love of insects and her love of children, she wrote Me & Smugg the Bug. A Story of an Unlikely Friendship to help children understand that friendship and acceptance of those different from us is vital.
The Antics of Carrot, the Ferret came about as she recalled the ferret her son owned as a teenager that kept the whole family laughing!
A graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College, June’s interests in education and communication continued in her writing.
